Reunion groups: our specialty...
OUR SPECIALTY: We have ended up specializing in reunion
groups. We process over 800 guests per year and though we do honeymooners, single families and sports teams a lot our
main client groups are reunions. The cabin has been shaped by our guests as we not only gather feedback, we listen to
it and modfy the cabin to match. That means the cabin has been shaped by our reunion groups and is designed for them.
TIPS
TO MAKE IT COME OFF SMOOTH AND EASY
HEADCOUNT: The groups we service the most have
a group size from 15 to 22, and then there are the larger groups of up to 39 that we split up with another cabin. We
only manage one cabin but we often will recommend other groups to the Treehouse cabin, about a mile away and they sleep 15-
18. We have no $ interest in this, we just think they do a good job too.
PAYMENT:
Get paid by your group in advance and do not send out directions to attend until you are paid. This is how we operate, this
may serve you well so you don't end up short by Unle Louie.
TERRAIN: Reunion groups
often want activities to do, but as you plan these realize that everything in Timber Lakes is mountain terrain. As much as
we would love a big grassy field blanketed in kentucky bluegrass that can only be found in town. There is a lot to do here,
guest groups have a great time, just FYI. You may want to plan a picnic day down in town for the kids in the park and
let the adults take turns seeing the shops and getting a break from kiddos.
BEDDING: We have
this covered elsewhere in this site but to be clear there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to sleeping kids. We have
4 or more floor mattresses that are portable, we have a full and two twins in the loft that are not mobile, and we have two
port-a-cribs as well as all of the pull-outs and standing beds. We ask that everyone care for and clean up uncommon bedding
spills, like if you get a pillow or blanket dirty clean it please. Our cleaners do not sniff test the stock of bedding so
please care for what we have- we have a huge array of pillows and blankets too.
PARKING:
Yes we can park a lot, but more car means more clogging up the driveway: please carpool where possible.
FOOD:
We do have two refrigerators and we are a long way from town (15min). Food left outside may be rummaged through
by animals... things to consider. Most groups, while trying to be green, use paper products and just wash silverware;
labeled plastic cups with a sharpie work especially if you have an activity of a competition to design and decorate your cup.
Go with a little higher quality cup that will last and it may solve a lot of problems.
TRASH:
You will want to send anyone going down the mountain with a trash bag hung on their mirror as it adds up fast and will
be torn apart by animals. We have thought of installing a large exterior trash bin but think that would invite more people
to forget to take it down and attract rats, got ideas? we welcome them.
GAMES: Age specific will
keep the attention of the group and one where teens mentor younger kids in teams works well too. We have a balcony so
parachutes made from napkins, paper airplane contests and the like are fun.
SLEEP: Bring
earplugs as everyone gets on a weird schedule after one night up playing games, awake with babies or awakened BY babies.
WEEK
LONG: We offer some really amazing deals to our returning VIP groups for 6 and 7 night stays, best deal you will find
for next time. especially in March and April and Sept, Oct and Nov.
